Hey! My name is Shannon!

Why a blog website? It is for my website design class at Liberty University!

I am a senior majoring in Strategic Communications with a minor in apologetics. At first when I was taking my class, we had to pick a theme for what we wanted our website be. Then I thought, “how can I combine my major and minor for this website?” Then it hit me! This website will feature creative, writing, and technical skills while creating blogs that dive into current events in the world and country from a biblical perspective.
I grew up in a family where the news was always on and was aware what was happening in the country and world. It wasn’t until I got to college where I realized there needs to be more Christians in the news to speak the truth boldly and have a passion to bring faith into politics and culture around us.

After having a summer internship at the Media Research Center in Washington, D.C., my mind was open to the deception of the media, especially as a Christian. I worked for in the NewsBusters division where I wrote an article almost every day countering lies that are spread on the media that are misinforming Americans.

One of my favorite verses is 1 Peter 3:15, “But in you hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.” What I have learned while minoring in Apologetics is that Christians should always be ready to provide a defense for what they stand for, especially the gospel. We need more Christians today to be bold to speak the truth and love and not sit in silence for the world to plow through.

My hope is that this blog is an encouragement for you to be bold with your walk with Jesus and bold for standing for the truth. At the end of the day, we should live to hear the words “Well done my good and faithful servant” from our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
